Pictoplasma is here!!!!! The most amazing festival of contemporary character design and art with screenings, lectures and presentations.
The Pictoplasma Berlin Festival brings together an international scene of artists, directors, designers and agencies, offering a unique forum for all those working with – or simply loving – the visualization and application of contemporary character design. Whether illustration, animation, graphic design, urban vinyl, street or fine art – the emphasis is not on the limits of style or format, but on the shared dedication to explore character-driven aesthetics. The lively exchange between the various disciplines highlights the importance of characters in contemporary visual culture.
Tim Biskup interview
The Southern California artist Tim Biskup is featured in this month Juxtapoz Magazine. In the interview he talks about his career and recent artwork which he describes as being more complex and conceptual. The magazine features beautiful illustrations and an entertaining dialogue with the amazing artist.
Bukubuku: Über Cute Show
Talented Spanish illustrator Bukubuku, will showcase her work at RIVET, Designer Toy & Art Gallery from February 6th – 28th. The Über Cute Show opening will be February 6th, 7-10pm.

Toxic Candies:Sweety & Liquorice
Artoyz Paris will release February 11th Sweety and Liquorice, the first two characters created by french artist Stéphane Levallois.
Junko Mizuno’s T-shirts
Junko Mizuno created three designs for the NEW PEOPLE store in San Francisco, CA. NEW PEOPLE offers the latest films, art, fashion and retail brands from Japan. The T-shirts will be available only at the store on the M floor.

Tim Biskup creates a Dolbee!
Tim Biskup just created a Dolbee! DOLBEES are a vinyl platform figure designed by MAD TOY DESIGN & ATP that combines the worlds of Music and Designer Toys. This limited edition toy will be soon available at Dolbee.org. Don’t forget that there’s only 365 of each Dolbee designs so when they are gone, they are gone!
Helena Garcia’s Solo Art Show
Helena Garcia’s beautiful retro and pop illustrations will be showcased this month at PinkGhost Gallery in Hollywood, FL. The opening will be Saturday, December 12, 2009.
The show comes hand in hand with the release of Helena’s Artist Chubby Book, which is a 250 page Hardcover book that includes 10 artist designed postcards, 100 lined pages and 150 sketch pages.
Charuca’s 4th Anniversary!
Spanish artist Charuca it’s celebrating this month her studio’s 4th anniversary! For the last four years she has created amazing character design, toy design and illustrations. This year Charuca has been very busy launching a beautiful back to school collection (featuring a wide range of notebooks, backpacks and school supplies accessories), participating in multiple events promoting her brand through Europe, and designing her new spring 2010 kids clothing line.
In November, Charuca was part of the BloodSweat Vector art show in Berlin, were she showcased a beautiful print titled “The Kawaii Big Bang”. This month she was also interviewed by RED 17 magazine; where she shared with the readers her teenager memories, favorites celebrities and gave advise on how to become a successful designer.
